Summary
You will receive a new licence file (QPulse.lic) if:
- You have purchased additional licences or features
- You have been issued your annual licence file
When this licence file is received it needs to be installed and activated. This article outlines the steps required to install and activate the file.
The steps to install and activate your licence file will vary depending on the version of Q-Pulse you are using. There are different steps to follow if you are using:
Q-Pulse 5.70 or Higher
To install and activate the licence:
- Go to the application server and browse to the application directory. By default this will be:
- 32bit Windows: C:\Program Files\Gael Ltd\Q-Pulse 5 Server
- 64bit Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Gael Ltd\Q-Pulse 5 Server
- Copy the licence file into this folder
- Launch ServerConfigUtil.exe (located in the same folder)
- Click [Import Licence]
- Select the licence file
- Confirm the information contained in the licence is correct
- Click [OK], then Save and Close ServerConfigUtil.exe
- Restart the Q-Pulse 5 Server service
Note: From Q-Pulse version 6, the 5 is omitted from the file path above.
Q-Pulse 5.0 to Q-Pulse 5.61
To install and activate the licence:
- Go to the application server and browse to the application directory. By default this will be:

- 64bit Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Gael Ltd\Q-Pulse 5 Server
- Copy the licence file into this folder
- Restart the Q-Pulse 5 Server service
How to allocate licenses to databases?
Licence allocation be used for environments where there is more than on Q-Pulse database.
This allows administrators to have a specific number of users logged into different databases at the same time, without having the users being locked out.
- Go to the application server and browse to the application directory.
- Launch 'ServerConfigUtil.exe'
- Select 'Specify a licence allocation for each database'
- Depending on how many licences you have, allocate a number of users to each of your databases.
- Click 'OK' then save and exit 'ServerConfigUtil.exe
- Restart the Q-Pulse Application server
