Who is this article for?Q-Pulse Administrators configuring user access.
Administration module access is needed.
Q-Pulse security is based around the permissions that can be added directly, via a group or inherited based on the users relationship to the record (i.e. dynamic access).
To provide users with access to their Person Record only, and to provide managers with access to the records of their staff only, you need to first update the Dynamic Groups, then update the user's Reporting Structure.
This article outlines:
1. How to Update the Dynamic Security Groups
There are two dynamic groups that need to be updated. These are:
- Person Record Holder: This group applies to the named person. For example, you would be given access to your record.
- Person Manager: This group applies to the designated manager of the user.
1.1. How to Update Person Record Holder
To update the dynamic group:
- Open the Administration module.
- Go to Security, and then to Groups.
- Select the Dynamic Group called Person Record Holder.
- Click the View/Edit button.
- Apply the permissions to this group that you would like the record holders to have.

- Click the OK button to save.
1.2. How to Update Person Manager
To update the dynamic group:
- Open the Administration module.
- Go to Security, and then to Groups.
- Select the Dynamic Group called Person Manager.
- Click the View/Edit button.
- Apply the permissions to this group that you would like the manager to have.
- Click the OK button to save.
2. How to Update the Reporting Structure
Once the Dynamic Groups are updated we need to specify which Users report to the Manager.
To do this:
- Open the People module.
- Locate and open Manager's record.
- Click Actions then View/Edit Properties.
- Click the Reporting Structure icon.

- Click the Add Direct Report button then search for and add all users who report to this person.
- Click OK.
