The Document Retrieval Service (DRS) is a free optional add-on that can be installed on your server in order to gain immediate access to your document attachments.
This article does not provide any details on how to install the DRS or how to configure authentication options and instead focuses on how to use the tool. For details on setting up and configuring the DRS please visit Getting Started with the Document Retrieval Service (DRS)

1. Launch the DRS
Reminder: As the Document Retrieval Service is an optional add-on it must be installed on a server to be accessed. Please visit How to Set-up and Configure the Document Retrieval Service (DRS) for more details.
To launch the DRS:
1. Open a web browser.
2. Enter the address http://<server name>/qpulsedocumentservice
Note: replace <server name> with the name of the server hosting the DRS).
3. Click [Go]
Important Note: By default you will be required to enter a username and password to access the DRS. For details on how to use a pre-defined user account instead of asking the user to login, please see the How to Set-up and Configure the Document Retrieval Service (DRS).
2. Search for a Document
To search for a document:
- Launch the DRS.
- If configured, enter your username and password.
- In the Criteria section, select the document status and enter your search parameters.
- Click [Search].
- Click on one of the links to launch the document.
Note: If you have multiple attachments stored against a Document record and no index file set (i.e. default attachment), you will be shown a list of all the attachments (fig. 2) to choose from. If an index file is set, that file will be opened automatically regardless of how many other attachments exist for that document.
3. Search for a Specific Revision
To search for a specific revision:
- Launch the DRS.
- If configured, enter your username and password
- In the Locate a particular document revision section, enter the document number and revision number.
- Click [Locate Revision]
- Click on one of the links to launch the document
4. Create a Hyperlink to a Document
- Launch the DRS.
- If configured, enter your username and password.
- Search for your document.
- Right click on the document links and select [Copy Shortcut].
- Open the document you want to link from and paste the hyperlink.
