The below table outlines the product updates released for Q-Pulse 5 and the new features that were introduced in that version.
|Asset Management||A new module that allows asset records to be stored within Q-Pulse. Non-Conformances can be raised against Assets.|
|Training and Competency Management||A new module for efficiently managing all your training and competency needs.|
|Q-Pulse Web Interface||Access the Documents module using a web browser in the office and on the go.|
|Windows Automatic Authentication (Single Sign On)||Q-Pulse can be configured via the DBConnections.xml file to automatically log users in based on their Windows common name.|
|Conditional Message Recipients||Allows email messages to be sent to recipients based on a set criteria. For example, email John if a new Accident CA/PA has been raised.|
Allows email messages to be sent to managers when a set limit has been reached. For example, email a manager when an employee has 10 documents to acknowledge.
|Email 'Go To' Records||Q-Pulse can be opened from Q-Pulse email messages by clicking a file attachment.|
|New Q-Pulse Web Modules||Access the Audit and CA/PA modules through a web browser allowing for more convenient use of Q-Pulse.|
|Electronic Signatures||Enforce electronic signatures to be entered when completing specific tasks. For example, closing CA/PA stages. This can be used to meet 21CFR Part 11.|
|Session Timeout *||
For improved security, users can be automatically logged out of Q-Pulse when they have been inactive for a set period of time. This can be used to meet 21CFR Part 11.
|User Lockout*||Accounts can be locked out of Q-Pulse when failed login attempts hit a set limit. This can be used to meet 21CFR Part 11.|
|Audit Log and Audit Log Viewer*||An audit database that maintains an extensive record of actions performed within Q-Pulse. Audit Log records are accessed using the Audit Log Viewer client application. This can be used to meet 21CFR Part 11.|
|Incidents and Occurrences (IMS/MRS)*||
Powerful reporting modules allow you to design highly customised forms that can be used to gather and log information about events.
This information can then be acted on in controlled incident investigations and risk assessments can be performed.
|Q-Pulse Web Occurrences||Occurrence records can be raised through the Q-Pulse Web Interface.|
|Performance Improvements||Numerous "under the hood" improvements were made to the underlying system to improve reliability and performance. Q-Pulse started using .NET 3.5.|
|New Look and Feel||With new and improved visuals, Q-Pulse is easier on the eye. This includes new branding and a new Q-Pulse logo.|
|Spell Checker||Text in memo fields can be checked for spelling mistakes in the English language.|
|iCalendar Email Integration||iCalendar email attachments allow entries for Q-Pulse events such as training courses to be entered into calendar applications such as Microsoft Outlook.|
|Import/Export Audit Checklists||Audit checklists can be imported or exported using XML data files allowing for easy sharing of checklists. Visit the Checklist Exchange to access customer checklists.|
|API Support||Custom tools can now be developed to closely integrate Q-Pulse with other systems.|
|Document Content Search||Q-Pulse can search the contents of embedded file attachments allowing for more powerful document module searching. Note: this requires Full Text Indexing to be enabled on your Microsoft SQL Server.|
Analysis and Report Designer Improvements
|Examples include creating analysis graphs and conditional formatting within reports.|
|Default LaunchPad Preferences||Q-Pulse can be configured to assign default LaunchPad preferences to new user accounts. For example, all new users will see wizards on their LaunchPad.|
|ClickOnce Deployment||ClickOnce can be used to rapidly install and upgrade Q-Pulse for a large number of users.|
|Secondary Licences||Secondary licences are introduced. Secondary licences are less restrictive than the previously available restricted licences allowing users to perform more tasks within Q-Pulse.|
|Proxy Server Support||Q-Pulse can be configured to work with proxy servers. This makes Q-Pulse a more viable solution for network environments that rely on proxy servers.|
|Improved Web Services (APIs)||
The Audit, CA/PA and Documents modules can be accessed and used more extensively by custom built API solutions.
|Windows 7 Certified||Q-Pulse is certified by Microsoft to work on Windows 7.|
|Advanced Workload||Allows administrators to see a system-wide workload which can be filtered by person, group and department.|
Allows administrators to re-assign workload items from one user to another user. All or specific workload items can be re-assigned.
|Split Licence Over Multiple Databases||The Server Configuration Utility allows you to import your licence and database connection files on the Q-Pulse application server.|
|Additional Spell Check Languages||Additional spell check languages have been added.|
|Document Retrieval Service (DRS)||
The DRS allows you to create hyperlinks to document record file attachments. These links can be placed in locations such as webpages and emails. Visit the Getting Started with DRS page for more details.
|Offline Audit *||Offline Audit allows you to take audit records offline. Once offline, audits can be performed and they can be uploaded back into Q-Pulse at a later stage.|
|Improved Web Services (APIs)||A number of enhancements have been made to the Q-Pulse APIs. This allows developers to more easily integrate Q-Pulse with external systems and applications.|
|Automatic DRS Login||DRS can be configured to login using predefined Q-Pulse account details. This allows non-Q-Pulse and external users to automatically login to and use the DRS.|
|Flight Data Management (FDM) Plugin||The FDM plugin allows Q-Pulse incident records to be linked to incidents stored within FDM systems such as Aerobytes.|
|Go Mobile with Q-Pulse iPad Apps||Q-Pulse 5.8 introduced the Docs and Audit apps for the Apple iPad. Visit our Go Mobile page for more details.|
|Quick, Slick Auditing||A number of enhancements have been made to the Audit module. This includes pre-defined responses to checklist questions and the automatic raising of CA/PAs based on the response to a question.|
|Mandatory CA/PA Field Sets||
You can now specify CA/PA fields that must be completed before records can be saved.
|Enforced Attachment Embedding||Within the Administration module, you can now configure modules to always embed files added as record attachments.|
|New Email Message Types||New email messages such as Next Stage Can Start and CA/PA Stage Re-opened have been added within the Administration module.|
Specific types of occurrences can be 'routed' or sent to specific individuals allowing for more efficient occurrence management. Occurrences are identified using the Type field and the new Location field. For example, only notify Bob about Air Safety Reports originating from Glasgow.
Improved Occurrence Workload
|The New Occurrences workload item has been broken down into New Mandatory Occurrences and New Non-Mandatory Occurrences.|
|Incident Analysis||Incidents can be analysed based on occurrence Location.|
|Improved Web Services (APIs)||New additions to the APIs include early support for creating active document revisions and distributing active documents.|
|Reporting for the iPad||A new iPad app can be used with 5.91 to submit reports to the Occurrences module. If your iPad is offline, there reports will be saved to the device and can be submitted later. Visit our Go Mobile page for more details.|
|Customise Reporting App Branding||Through the Administration module, update the look and style of the app to match your corporate branding.|
|Default Confidentiality of Occurrences||Make reports confidential by default, removing the chance that users may submit confidential forms openly.|
|Connect Occurrence Report Types with Job Roles||Occurrence reports can now be connected to Job Roles, meaning users will only be able to raise reports that are related to their role.|
|Improved Report Matching||Records that fall within a 5-day Window will now be offered during the acceptance process.|
|Improved STEADES Integration||A series of enhancements to improve the integration between STEADES and Q-Pulse.|
|User Indicator||An indicator is displayed against people to indicate if they are a user within Q-Pulse. For example, when adding a copyholder to a document.|
|Improved Performance||Some "under the hood" changes to improve the performance of Q-Pulse. The product now uses Microsoft .NET 4.0.|
|CA/PA Read Only Stage Actions||Stage actions are now set to read-only when an action has been completed.|
|CA/PA Re-open Completed Actions||If a stage is still open, completed actions within the stage can be re-opened.|
Action Re-opened Email
|A new email called "NC Stage Action Re-opened" has been created. This will be sent when an action is re-opened.|
|Re-open action Permissions||A new permission called "Re-open stage action" has been created. Users must have this permission assigned in order to re-open a stage action.|
|Audit Performance Improvements||Performance improvements when paging large amounts of Audit records have been implemented.|
|Document Obsolete Date||When deactivating a document, Q-Pulse will record the date/time that the revision was made obsolete or inactive and also a reason that the deactivation took place.|
|Improved User Archiving for Administrators||When archiving an account in the Administration module you are now prompted to replace the account you are archiving with another active account.|
|Extended User Archiving Across All Modules||Changes to how archived accounts are handled in all modules and provides better visual feedback to users that an account has been archived.|
|Improved Performance in the Occurrence and Incident Modules||Major under-the-hood changes have been applied in the Occurrence and Incident modules which reduce the time taken for data to be returned to the user.|
|Improved Type-Ahead Control||Hierarchical managed lists have been updated with an improved type-ahead control that allows you browse the hierarchy (as previous versions have allowed) or to begin typing into the field to return results.|
|Additional Access for Secondary Licence Holders||Secondary licence holders now have the ability to add notes to all records and also add attachments using the Properties section.|
|Additional Occurrence Access via the Q-Pulse Web Interface||The Web Interface now offers the potential for you to see all Occurrence records.|
|Default Document Register is Active for New Users||Q-Pulse will remember the last register you accessed within the Documents module so that this can be opened when you next open the module.|
|Consistent Double-Click Behaviour in the People Module||Various changes to enhance the consistency of double clicking on the list view in the People module.|
|Improved Visibility of Training Plan Dates||The Training Plan section of a Person record now displays the Target Date field.|
